June

June is already here! So, it is time for the June book giveaway!

This month, the giveaway is not exactly a book. Instead, it is a memo pad organizer with some coordinating pencils!

I really love notepads – especially ones that detail a week or a month at a time, and this one is so cute! The longer days of summer leave more time for fun activities. And, this is the perfect pad to best maximize scheduling the expanded daylight hours!

This month’s giveaway is a book I recommended in my ‘reading ahead’ post. It is titled The Woman in the Window by A .J. Finn.

Even though the book is not releasing until January 2018, it is wildly popular and already in development as a major film.

This new, smart thriller is the story of an agoraphobic woman in New York City who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house. Hearing the story told from inside one (rather colorful) woman’s mind, as she spies on her neighbors, gives this suspenseful novel a unique perspective.

This month’s giveaway is Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo. A soon-to-be released first novel, written by a Nigerian author and set in Nigeria, the story gives a voice to both a husband and a wife as they tell the story of their marriage. After meeting and falling in love in college, Yejde and Akin marry and agree polygamy is not for them, though accepted in their culture. But, four years into their marriage, circumstances change.

A great emotional read with some interesting twists and turns that examines how much we can sacrifice for the sake of family.

This book makes for an excellent book group choice. If chosen by my own book group, I wouldn’t be surprised if our group hostess was authentic to Nigerian culture and served smashed yams!

I am kind of obsessed with food in mason jars. Mainly because I am trying so hard not to use plastic for storing and serving foods! It is part of my commitment to eating healthier!

When I starting flipping through the recipe book Jar Salads by Alexander Hart recently, while shopping at Terrain, I knew it needed to be the March giveaway selection for the blog!

The book inspires me to create some new jar salad combinations, and I am sure it will do the same for you! I love putting together healthful combinations of fresh ingredients to take on the go and this book is a great guide to creating fresh and transportable salads to eat throughout the day!

The recipes in the book are divided into four categories: vegetarian, seafood, poultry, and meat. There are fifty-two inventive salads – literally, a new one for every week in the year! From a Mexican-inspired vegetarian taco salad to Vietnamese pork and vermicelli noodle salad, there are plenty of taste combinations to try! Just add a bunch of fresh ingredients to a screw-top mason jar and you are good to go!

When something sparks my interest, I get caught up in exploring it. Most recently, this is happening with salt. I started investigating different types of salts, created a DIY salt cellar, and I have plans to visit a salt-themed restaurant.

The November book giveaway highlights this current interest of mine. More specifically, the book is about using salt in desserts. With September here in a couple of days, I am announcing the next giveaway book. It is The Year of Cozy by Adrianna Adarme. This book is fabulous! If I were to write a book, I would want it to look like this! It includes 125 recipes, crafts, and other ‘homemade adventures.’ Adrianna has created a book that is truly a joy to experience. The recipes, creative inspirations, and DIYs are organized by season – starting with Autumn/October. Anyone that reads this book is sure to enjoy a wonderful takeaway – whether it be a new perspective, or a new recipe.

I have really been loving the ‘designer’ toast craze! Putting all kinds of great ingredients on a good piece of toasted bread just can’t be beat! It is also a wonderful way to use favorite leftovers.

Because of this, I decided to make the July giveaway book one that will inspire you to create your own yummy toasts! The book is called Posh Toast with recipes by Emily Kydd and photography by Louise Hagger. This book is sure to inspire some great toast creations. I am not saying I don’t eat salads all year ‘round – because I do! But, I definitely enjoy them all the more in the spring when a fresh plate of greens can be enjoyed while sitting outside on a patio or in the sun at the beach! All food tastes better al fresco! :)

With that said, it should not surprise you that my May book giveaway is salad related! It is called Salad Dressings by Jessica Strand and it is a wonderful resource on how to create dressings for all your spring salad creations!

For the second month in a row, I have chosen an adult coloring book for the month’s book giveaway! There was a great response for last month’s giveaway selection Lost Ocean and, although Johanna Basford’s coloring books are great, there are some other great ones out there to choose from as well!

To prove my point, I have chosen Birds of a Feather by Vicki Sawyer as this month’s giveaway selection. I just love the illustrations!
