summer skies at the beach

I definitely have a thing for clouds.  No doubt about it.  I am fascinated by them.

I love it in the summer when I have a little down time and I can truly appreciate the sky – especially in the evening.

Though my daughter much prefers a cloudless sky over the water – the kind of sky that creates a watercolor of pink painted across the horizon – like this one,

I  prefer a cloudy sky.  The clouds provide an endless variety of unique skies and reflections of colors.  The photos I am sharing here are just a few examples – none are altered with filters or in any way – they are just images taken with a phone camera.

During the bright daytime sky, the clouds still provide endless beauty. . .

I hope I have inspired you to look to the sky this holiday weekend and to be mindful of the clouds!

balmy and the beach

Feb beach day

What to do on a 70-degree day in February?  Head to the beach, of course!  Connecticut does not usually experience temperatures this high in February, so a trip to the beach, no matter how short, seemed in order!

balmy and beautiful

Today I am sharing a few photos from that warm day earlier this week.

loosing the horizon

I wanted you to see how the fog had created some really cool views by making the water and the sky appear as one.

Did you know yesterday was National Relaxation Day?

It seems odd to me to assign a relaxation day on a day when so many people are starting a busy work week.  Am I the only one that needs to hit the ground running on a Monday morning?  I think this day should be renamed ‘National Take 5 Minutes of Relaxation Time’  for the average person to realistically participate!  If you have a whole day free to relax, you probably don’t need to!

With that being said, I am sharing my most recent relaxation time – not an entire day, mind you – but, a couple of hours on the water with some friends.

sunset on the ct coast pleasure in simple things blog

Can you believe, here in Connecticut, there are still weather forecasts of snow? It is a little much, in my opinion. Can we just get on with spring?

For today’s Friday field trip, I am providing a little glimpse of the Connecticut coast and hoping to inspire some thoughts of warmer weather.

I know you can’t tell by the photos that the April temperatures while I was photographing were in the ‘20s!
